I Got Flowers

**********HAPPY MOTHERS DAY **********

When I came home from work today. There was a box on the front porch from ProFlowers.
The flowers were very well packed and it came with a glass vase.

The roses are beautiful. There are eight hot pink roses with a wine or maroon colored daises. Then there are those light lilac colored flowers. Not for sure what they are called but they look like a miniature daisy.

These beautiful flowers were sent to me by my son and his thoughtful wife. Thank you very much.

Okay girls, you brother has sent flowers so what are ya'll goin' do?

The Dog looking for a place to poop in deep snow!

Wow We have never had so much SNOW! New Update

Snow on the roof of the garage of another neighbor, Wow impressive!
The neighbors deck that live on the block behind us. This crap is Deep!

This is the window in the bathroom upstairs. No the snow isn't THAT deep but it looks pretty neat. Makes me wonder what the roof looks like?

Can you guess what this is a picture of . It is snow stuck to the basement door. I have a yard stick that I was going to measure the depth of the snow but I need something longer!

My husband had moved his VW out of the way so he would be able to get his 4 WD truck out, ha! It is covered too. There is no going anywhere. I'm so glad I bought a large amount of food last weekend.

My front porch. I can't get the front door open. I really don't want to either.

Neighbors driveway across the street.

Looking across the street at Albert's driveway and garage. That is a pickup parked there.

View from the basement door looking under the deck. You can kind of see a little of the six foot cement wall. You can't see the steps leading down at all.

This really shows the snow depth.

North side of the back yard.

I know it's hard to see but the chains holding the swing go into the snow. It just keeps getting deeper.

March Blizzard!

It has been snowing since about 9 am. When I left work at noon you could only see about a block. The snow is coming down sideways. The wind is terrible. The courthouse was closed at noon today because of the weather. The Courthouse NEVER closes on a regular work day. I'm sure glad it did.

Here are a few pictures I have taken of the mess.

Some of these are looking out my back door and some out of my front windows. Unlike my daughter I did not go out side to take pictures.

The was snow plastered against my patio door.
The photo shows the snow better. The black wrapped thing is the grill.

Through the front windows

Poor little birds are cold!

The woodpecker is waiting for the ugly black colored bird to get off of his suet.

Finally he can get a little food before the bully birds show up.

Now the squirrel is going to get in on the act.

View through the patio door. And the storm still rages.

Mother Nature Did It Again!

My Apricot tree has been in full bloom for several days. I was really hoping this would be the year I would finally get apricots from this tree.

As you can see the sky is kind of dark. The sun comes through every once in a while but it has been cold all day.

These pretty little blooms are not long for this world. The temperature last night and tonight will be in the low 20's. I don't think I will be getting any apricots this year, again.

I guess I should enjoy them while I can. They are such pretty little blooms.

Small Town Life

Small towns are a great place to raise kids. There isn't a bunch of things for them to do but they make their own fun. Don't think that small towns are drug and crime free, far from it. I had aways thought this was such a nice little town until I went to work for the District Court. Now I know different, on the surface it is an innocent appearing town.

For such a small town, we have several parks. Lemons park is by far the most beautiful. It doesn't matter what time of year. There are sidewalks the wind through the park, play areas for the kids and separate area for playing baseball and T-ball.

This is the local one and only theater in our town. I does show first run movies. It also has two screens. So no matter where you sit you don't have anything blocking your view. And you are close to the screen.

Our water towers, well maybe at one time but now they are just for show. Pratt's brush with fame came when a writer from the New Yorker magazine drove through town. He say the water towers, had to take a picture and wrote a story that was published in the magazine. Now that was the talk of the town for several weeks!

It took me 15 years to get use to this town. I grew up and always lived in a big city. It was a total shock moving to this small of a town. Now my husband was just the opposite. This is the largest town he has ever lived in. We both adjusted because we are still here some 30 years later.

We are back home.

Don't look at the dates on the photos, they are all messed up. These were all taken on the 14th, 15th and 16th of February.

Look what I found in my daughters yard. This was the only one in bloom but there were lots of plants with buds.

We watched the birds and squirrels at the feeders.

That is a squirrel in the wood feeder and a bird of some type on the red feeder. They have tons of birds and squirrels at their house. I told Harley Guy he needed a bird book and binoculars. It would be nice to have a camera with a great zoom.

We went to the Cowboy Hall of Fame. Loved every minute of it.

We had a great time there. We spent all afternoon looking at painting, sculptures, guns, saddles, native American artifacts. They have tons of things, most are priceless. We didn't get to see the whole museum because they announced closing time, darn it. We did get our exercise that afternoon.

Doesn't that look just like a real cowboy leaning against the doorway with his dog.

Beautiful paintings, this was one of my favorites.

Of course The Duke was there.

How can you have a cowboy hall of fame without the Duke! Not a good picture but you can tell it is him. I always loved his movies.

As I said a good time was had by all. I thank my daughter and son in law for keeping us busy and helping my husband to relax. He really need that great weekend. We ate very well. My daughter is a fantastic cook and she kept us well fed.

Until next time.

OMG, I was give an Award!

This award acknowledges the values that every Blogger displays in their effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values with each message they write. Awards like this have been created with the intention of promoting community among Bloggers. It’s a great way to show appreciation and gratitude for work that adds value to the Web.

Staci from The Bliss of it All http://junebugszoom.blogspot.com/
gave me this award. This is my first award. Thank you Staci. Now I have to start blogging more.

I love Staci's blog. She writes about Oklahoma. My home state that I miss so much. I don't live that far away. I do get to go back every few months but it's not the same as living there.
She writes about family from long ago and how they lived on the plains of Oklahoma. Her photographs of the early years remind me of my grandparents. Our grandparents and great grandparents were a hearty breed. They survived so much and did it with a smile and love for God, family and country.

Pictures of My Finished Kitchen

I just realized that I didn't ever show my finished kitchen. So here it is, I love it.

The photo above is directly above my sink. When my daughter and I found this at Star Lumber we knew we had to have it. This is how I selected the rest of the tile for my kitchen.

If you enlarge the picture you can see the little decorative tiles. The colors in them went well with the medallion.

Please pay no attention to the dirty glasses in the sink. I just hadn't put them into the dishwasher yet, okay.

Just another view. If the tiles look chipped around the edges, they are. That is the way they are made. I liked it and they are not sharp or rough. After 30 years of a crappy kitchen I really enjoy my new kitchen. Now for the floor, soon real soon I hope.

A Face Lift

Wow, it looks much better. Thanks to my daughter, brneyedgal, at The Color Of Home She does such good work. She really is good at computer stuff.

It's been pretty quiet around here. We had a bit of ice and snow but nothing compared to south and east of us.

Work has been nuts. It is so busy on the floor I work on. There is just two of us on that floor. We have many more cases than the other District Court floor. I am getting sick of the amount of work and everything that is expected of us. On top of all of that the State put in a hiring freeze. That means if someone retires or quits they will not be replaced. That just put more work on the people that is left. The bad part is I would so love to retire but I don't want to leave the people I work with in a bad situation, damn, damn, double damn.

THE COURTHOUSE

Not the best picture but it will have to do. As you can see it was taken a few months ago.

My Interview.

The cute little guy with the pencil is here to help me with my interview. This is where he came from http://organizeddoodles.blogspot.com/

Staci from "The Bliss of it All" is doing the interview, so here we go.

1. If you had to change your name to an Indian name, such as "Bird Flying" or something similar, what name would you choose, and why?

Darn, this is kind of hard. Hmmm, Some days I would be Shining Star other days it would be Dark Moon. Why, well I can be kind of moody. I do hide this very well at work but not at home.

Edit; Now that I have thought about it and my daughter gave me some ideas. I think maybe
Momma Bear or Twitching Eye. The last one is my oldest daughters idea. There is a long story that goes with the twitching eye. I'll tell that story someday.
The Momma Bear name would be because no one hurts one of my kids without me stepping in.

2. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.

Very Good at:
1. Painting (that's decorative painting)
2. My job (I may not be very good but I'm pretty good)
3. Keeping a secret (If someone tells me not to tell anyone, I don't tell anyone ever)

Very Bad at:
1. Keeping a spic and span house. (I live in a home not a show place)
2. Helping my husband with the yard work. (I hate to sweat)
3. Exercising (I hate to sweat)

3. What is the dumbest thing you've ever seen someone else do?
It was a long time ago. A group of young adults (adults really isn't the right word) were together on the 4th of July. The guys were holding firecracker lighting and throwing them. This one guy put one in his mouth like a cigarette. He kept telling them to light it. Finally someone did. Before he could grab it and throw it. It blew up in his mouth. It mess up one of his lips and he had to get a few stitches. It was just one of those that had a very fast fuse for some reason. It ended our fun with fireworks.

4. If you could only keep five things (not including people) that's in your home right now, what would those things be and why?

1. Photo Albums
Why, because they can't be replaced.
2. My Computer
Why, I can't live without it.
3. My husbands inhaler
Why, he can't breath without it.
4. My Waterbed
Why, I don't like sleeping on anything else.
5. I guess the damn dog.
Why, my husband would miss him.

5. Do you think the world will be a better or worse place 100 years from now?

If there is still a world left I do hope it will be a better place. I hope the rain forests that are left can be saved. Maybe just maybe mankind will not kill off any of the endangered animals. And there will be World Peace.

So that's it! If you want to participate, leave me a comment. I'll send five questions (I get to pick them!) to the first five who might respond. After those five post their answers, on their blog, they will do the same to five more bloggers. I don't know if I even have 5 people that read my blog. We shall see.

A DOG'S LIFE

BIG STRETCH

This is what he does after laying around most of the day.

He loves looking out the window in hopes of seeing something to bark at.

He loves his chewy bone. He makes such a mess.

Then he crashes, worn to a frazzle

Now I get to vacuum.

I really think he needs a playmate. Am I nuts for thinking of getting another dog.
Maybe something that can hold their own with him. Something like a Yellow Lab or Golden Retriever.

Beautiful Weather!

At least for a few days. Then it will turn cold and snow. But for now we have weather in the high 50's.

I love this kind of weather.

I have been reading a book my district Judge loaned me. It is John Grisham's The Innocent Man. It is a true story that took place in Ada, Oklahoma. I may live in Kansas but I am and always will be an Okie. So far it is a good read. I'm only about one fourth of the way through so I'm off to read.

Last night I'm sitting in my chair reading about the murder of a pretty 24 year old young woman. The dog (the German Short Hair) is laying by the chair. He slowly raised up looking at the patio door and growling. He doesn't do that! I get up and head for the patio door. First he is in front of me the closer I get to the door the more he drops back. What a chicken and me too. I didn't open the door to check what may or may not be out there. I just checked and made sure the door was locked. I went back to my reading and he laid back down. He would have to do that when I'm reading about the condition the body was in when found. What timing.

BEST COOKIES EVER

Just enlarge so you can read it.

Everything you will need.

Begin with 2 sticks of oleo and 2 cups of sugar, cream together
add ricotta, vanilla, baking soda and 2 eggs

Mix well and add the flour.

Mix well and prepare your cookie sheets (I hope your oven is preheated to 350)

Drop by rounded teaspoon, I don't know how many it makes. I didn't count them.
This made 4 cookie sheets full.

Get every little bit out of the bowl. These are good.

While the cookies are baking have a cool drink. Or have one while you are making the cookies. Once they are done and cooling, make the cream cheese icing. Once cooled Ice the cookies. Here they are all done and ready to eat.
